Coming in November….

Call for artists looking for a unique opportunity…..
On 9 November, we are offering 9 artists the opportunity to turn 9 rooms at the Old Fire Station into a unique, once in a lifetime art exhibition.
The 999 exhibition will accept proposals in any artistic form: from painting, sculpture and photography to conceptualism, performance art and lighting installations.
So, if you have an idea; send your proposal in, because we want to hear about it and everything will be considered.
Please send your proposals by email to The closing date for submitting proposals is 21 October 2016 at 5pm.
We will then choose 9 of the proposals to participate in the exhibition and notify the successful artists week commencing 24 October.
Exhibition set up time will be from Sunday 6 until Tuesday 8 November, with the exhibition running from Wednesday 9 until Sunday 13 November.
This is a one off opportunity to use an amazing space before it is demolished and lost forever.

Let your imaginations run wild and we look forward to hearing your ideas…..

3 August 2016: Exciting News: For a short period only, we have use of the old fire station on Clifford Street, York. This a great opportunity for us to use such an iconic building for creative events and exhibitions.

Want to get involved?

We are inviting proposals for use of the space before it’s demolished and we hope to choose a selection of the ideas to implement a variety of events.

As we only have the space for a short duration (9-12 weeks, possibly less) we want to facilitate as many projects as possible. Therefore we are unable to offer long term proposals and we would suggest you propose projects that can take place over 2-5 days.

The proposals must fit with the Skippko Blank Canvas ethos, so the space can be used for:

Community projects, creative projects, performances, non-selling exhibitions, workshops, theatre , educational projects, demonstrations, displays, classes etc…

Please send your proposals by email to including:

  • Your name and contact details.
  • The proposal idea
  • A little bit about you or your organisation
  • Time frame and specific dates (if applicable)

The deadline for accepting proposals is 1300 on Monday 15 August 2016
